Journal of Immunology is an independent worldwide publisher that publishes disseminating high-quality research and scientific knowledge in the field of Immunology. The journal covers a broad spectrum of immunological topics including clinical, experimental and basic research on the structure and function of cells that constitute the immune system in health and disease.
Manuscripts are first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief, who makes an initial decision based on manuscript quality and editorial priorities. Manuscripts that pass this evaluation are sent out for external peer review. The Journal of Immunology adheres to the principles of single-blind peer review, in which authors' names and institutional affiliations are not revealed. In addition, authors are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest and provide a statement of authorship contributions.
The journal publishes research articles, reviews and commentaries in the field of Immunology. These articles are written by expert scientists in the area and should represent novel observations not published before, nor under consideration for publication elsewhere. Research Articles should include a comprehensive description of the experiments performed, the results and their implications. In case reports, the authors should explain how the novel observations advance the understanding of the immune system in health and disease.
The Journal of Immunology also publishes Meeting Reports, which allow the Editors to extend the impact of a conference to a broader readership and should be submitted along with a brief explanation of the rationale for publishing the report. The journal encourages conference organizers to submit these reports, and the Editors will work closely with the organisers to ensure that the report is published as quickly as possible after the event.
The journal focuses on the following areas of immunology: mineral immunogenetics, adaptive immunity, antigen processing and presentation, antigen recognition, cellular innate and adaptive responses, apoptosis, immune regulation, cytokines and their receptors, thymic selection, hematopoiesis, lymphatic organs and the lymphatic system, autoimmunity, transplantation and tumour immunity. In addition, the journal publishes Research Reports on new and important immunological discoveries that have been developed into a therapy or diagnostic tool and are ready for translation to the clinic. These articles are of particular relevance to the readership of the Journal of Immunology because they offer a rapid means for sharing important findings and their potential clinical applications.
